Special Note for Students and Postdocs

Accommodation arrangements will be made by the GRAND administrative office on behalf of students and postdocs who are presenting a poster and have been designated by a GRAND project to receive such a subsidy, those who have been selected to present Research Notes or those who are assisting with the coordination of the conference. These three categories of students and postdocs will have their accommodation covered further to the GRAND 2014 Travel and Accommodation Subsidies Policy.

Applicable students and postdocs are reminded to review the Timeline in order to meet the required booking deadlines. Housing is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Transportation to the Westin Ottawa Hotel

The Westin Ottawa is located 15.9km from Ottawa International Airport, easily accessible via taxi, and private or public transportation.

By Taxi:
Taxis are stationed outside the airport at all times. A taxi to the Westin Ottawa Hotel will cost between $35 and $40, plus tip, and take about 30 - 40 minutes.

By Public Transit:

By Private Vehicle:

 From Ottawa International Airport (approximately 18 minutes)
• Start out going Northwest on Airport Parkway Private.
• Take Airport Parkway Private toward Departures.
• Airport Parkway Private becomes RR-79 North.
• Take the ramp toward Colonel By Drive.
• Turn right into The Westin Ottawa driveway, directly BEFORE Colonel By Drive.

From Montreal (approximately 2 hours)
• When leaving Montreal, take Highway 40 West to 417 West.
• Take the Highway 417 West ramp toward Ottawa.
• Merge onto Provincial Route 417 West/Trans Canada Highway West.
• Merge onto Nicholas Street via Exit 118 toward Autoroute-5/Gatineau.
• Nicholas Street becomes Waller Street.
• Turn left onto Daly Avenue.
• Turn right into The Westin Ottawa driveway, directly BEFORE Colonel By Drive.
