On March 24 and 25, 2012, researchers in the field of Visual Analytics from Boeing, Canada and Brazil will meet in São Paulo for the first Brazilian Visual Analytics (BRAVA) workshop. This initiative, sponsored by The Boeing Company, Mitacs and GRAND, and supported by Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) is an effort to promote international cooperation in Visual Analytics between the two countries and The Boeing Company.

GRAND represents the largest digital media research group in Canada. It brings to the BRAVA workshop the strength of it's 500-member network and the top Canadian talent in visual analytics.  Meaningful international connections, such as the BRAVA initiative, enrich as well as extend GRAND's research and commercialization efforts.

“Through the BRAVA workshop, GRAND expects to strengthen its relationship with Boeing, Mitacs and the Brazilian research community. There are important advancements in the emerging field of visual analytics that are ripe for this type of collaboration, said Dr. Kellogg Booth, Scientific Director, GRAND.”

By facilitating research across the broad spectrum of digital media, GRAND links computer scientists and engineers with artists, designers and social scientists. This approach is especially useful in the multidisciplinary field of Visual Anaylytics. Researchers from Dalhousie University, OCAD University, Simon Fraser University and The University of British Columbia, all members of the GRAND network, will be participating in the workshop.
