GRAND, in partnership with Ocean Networks Canada, MEOPAR NCE, Wavefront and VIVA (Vancouver Institute of Visual Analytics), is holding a one-day workshop on August 20, 2014 focused on Ocean Maritime Monitoring Visualization Needs and Technologies: Industry and Research Collaboration for Environmental and Ocean Sustainability.

The workshops will provide a forum for researchers from the digital media and the ocean and maritime environment monitoring communities to engage with each other and representatives from the digital media developer community and leading firms in oceanographic research, coastal management, maritime surveillance.  The goal of the workshop is to identify and examine the current needs, issues, and problems challenging the ocean and maritime surveillance sector and to explore avenues for collaboration and partnership with mobile and and digital media developers/companies offering extensive experience in mobile platform development, user interface/user experience design, big data analysis, animation, simulation, 3D visualization and sensor data and cross-platform integration.
