Dr. Wolfgang Stürzlinger has been programming computers since the age of 14. At the age of 15, he began developing software for tax consultants at the request of his father. By 1989 this family-run company was the market leader in his native Austria, a position it still retains.
Wolfgang graduated with a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University in Vienna, Austria in 1993 before moving to the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria. In 1998, Wolfgang was appointed to the Department of Computer Science at York University in Toronto, Canada. There, he is an associate professor and a member of the interdisciplinary Centre for Vision Research (CVR).
Wolfgang is a leading researcher in three-dimensional user interfaces and virtual reality. Additionally, he is very active in human-computer interaction. He is a member of an journal editorial board and numerous international program committees and also chaired several international scientific events. He is an author of more than a dozen patents.
