Beverly Harrison

Principal Scientist

Dr. Beverly Harrison is a senior scientist specializing in human computer interaction and user experience. Her research creates prototype systems using computer vision, 3D gesture and object recognition and context-aware user interfaces. She has worked in industrial research labs for over 15 years including Nortel, Alias (now Autodesk), Xerox PARC, IBM Research, and Intel Labs Seattle. In 1998-2000, she spent two years at a successful startup company in the e-book space, SoftBook Press/Gemstar International as Director of User Experience.

Beverly has numerous publications, holds over 30 patents and serves on many HCI conference committees. She additionally holds three affiliate faculty appointments at University of Washington: CSE, iSchool, and School of Art - Design. Beverly holds a PhD in Human Factors Engineering from the University of Toronto.
