GRAND NCE board member Jim Brookes also assists sister NCE NeuroDevNet with business development and government relations activities. He worked for 25 years in the telecommunications market before joining MITACS as their Chief Operating Officer, a position he held from 2002 - 2010. 

Jim worked for BC Tel, Stentor and TELUS in a variety of senior positions in business development, marketing and general management. He held the position of Vice-President of Local Services at BC Tel/TELUS where he grew a $2B market and also was Vice-President of Business Transformation at TELUS. 

Jim has a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University. He is President of VanDusen Botanical Gardens and also volunteers his time as an Account Executive for the United Way and was previously a member of the Marketing Committee for the BC Cancer Foundation.
